Rubella (German measles) is a benign, self-limiting disease, usually during childhood, which is characterized by mild upper respiratory symptoms, suboccipital lymphadenopathy, and an erythematous rash. Mild complications of arthralgias and arthritis may occur after the disappearance of rash in young adults. At the present time the prime indication for laboratory diagnosis of rubella resides in the potential risk of this disease to the fetuses of women in the early stages of pregnancy. It is recommend that women of childbearing age should be assessed by antibody analysis for susceptibility to rubella. Rubella can lead to fetus's demise, cataracts, malformation, deafness, and mental retardation. US federal government and many states support programs to immunized women against rubella before they have children. There has been a resurgence of congenital rubella in the early 1990s and more widespread screening for rubella serology is recommended. dBest Rubella test kit is intended for professional use as an aid in the diagnosis of anti-Rubella IgG/IgM. Ameritek's One Step dBest Rubella Test can identify Anti Rubella IgG/IgM antibodies in plasma or serum specimens with a high degree of sensitivity.
